I stumbled upon these cute little bags this year at Floriade (our annual tulip festival). I think the name is brilliant - but that's too obvious. You can check out Love Libby at her website. Choose your bag, then, if you can, choose your fabric the choice is so great that you will probably find it difficult. I love the lingerie fabric (top left) and I do have a thing for stars and hearts!
This is Team Resolution of which my darling husband is a member. As I write they are making their way home from Jindabyne on Day 3 of the Hartley Cycle Challenge 2007. It's an amazing feat to ride over 400km in 3 days and I'm so proud of him and his team. His training started in May and I have sometimes felt like a cycle widow and this weekend I have a renewed appreciation for single mothers. It's all been worth it though - I have a fit, healthy and happy husband. What more could you want?
It occurred to me that I have many talented friends. This lariat is the work of my dear friend Belinda (but we have another name for her), Godmother to my eldest and very clever businesswoman and jewellery designer and the brains behind Creatively Belle . When I first met her 13 years ago she was a technical writer working for a bank! This lariat is very similar to the one I own but no two are the same and I love that mine is unique. I absolutely love green and I get so many compliments when I wear it - which is always nice to hear. She's also sells mini lariats that are also gorgeous but then again so is everything she makes.
It's quite easy to overlook the humble passion fruit or at least take it for granted. A few years ago we made a trip to Canada to visit some friends and do some skiing. The only request from our friends in Newfoundland was tins of passion fruit pulp! So I carted many tins across the world for them to enjoy. Our garden has a passion fruit vine and it is already starting to flower - they are so amazing. Pretty soon we'll be giving away bags full of passion fruit to neighbours and friends. I will also have to break out the pavlova recipe, because a pavlova is not complete unless it's drizzled with passion fruit. If anyone has any other recipes let me know. I still have a freezer full of passion fruit from last year!
I'm not sure why it is that so much great design comes out of Scandinavia. I really love these wooden birds, available from Great Dane Furniture. They really have so many beautiful things that I will just have to add to my wish list. My husband and I joke that we keep Scandinavia is business, with our many visits to Ikea, our Stokke Tripp Trapp chairs and my passion for George Jensen jewellery - namely their year pendants.
I really don't like summer. I love the summer fruit that is now appearing in the markets - I bought my first mango of the season this week! I also put up with summer because it's preceded by spring... ahhh beautiful spring. In Sydney the seasons just merge into a blur, but in Canberra they are extreme and distinct. These are the bottle brush in our garden. I love watching the blossoms unfurl from their tough exterior (top picture) and bloom into the most amazing flowers. We have several colours in our garden but the red is the biggest and most spectacular so of course it's picture worthy.
I get so sad when I think of the people I was close to and I no longer keep in touch or even know where they are. I'm very sentimental like that. Today I had a little experience in synchronicity. Lying in bed thinking of the person I miss most in Atlanta and then sitting down at my computer only to discover that she had signed up to Facebook and thought to search for me! This is Lane - foodie extraordinaire. If you really want to get your brain working, check out her Live Journal - Diary of a baaaaaad housewife! So glad you found me.
One of the things I love about having a native garden is the birds it attracts. This photo was taken this afternoon as we were getting ready for dinner on the balcony. The seed bell was a present from our little friend Evie. It's taken the parrots a little while to discover it but it's very popular now it's been relocated to the peach tree.
This blog is devoted to the current ramblings of a working Mum with way too many interests. I have a passion for great design and fabric. I reside in Australia's capital with my very supportive husband and 2 very energetic boys.
We moved to Canberra from Atlanta GA and I confess I still get nostalgic for southern USA life.
