Sunday Pounce in Yellow

This week's pounce is this cute cushion from jamtart baby etsy store. Once I find a pounce I like to explore the store a little bit more. Jamtart baby is run by Christina Romeo, this is her selection for the modern baby (and Mum!). For some more really nice pieces have a look at her other etsy store ChristinaRomeo - I especially love the plates. I like her blog also both the name Dogwood Studio and the pictures showing today's date - go and have a look to see what I mean.

Yellow is catching my eye this week if this spread from the Kikki-K christmas catalogue is anything to go by. I don't wear yellow as it really looks hideous on me but could I stand to be surrounded by this much yellow?

Bring It Home

Meet Michael and Loyzek who have come up with the most ingenious idea yet for Canberra. They have started Bring It Home, a business going on buying and transportation trips to Ikea in Sydney. Despite the rumours Canberra still hasn't qualified for it's own Ikea and it seems they were equally frustrated by this as a vast majority of Canberrans. These guys will be doing regular trips for 17% of the purchase price - sounds good to me! I love Ikea you only need look at our house! Now I better go an make my list.

Sunday Pounce

I must confess that I was a little less random in my pouncing today. I purposefully went in search of snowflakes and knew that if I just kept hitting the Pounce Again button then something would appear - being so close to Christmas. It didn't take that long to land on these gorgeous snowflake wall decals from Decorette esty store. And why the snowflake? Well it's very cold and wet outside and almost 1 week before the official start to the Australian summer there is snow on the ranges surrounding Canberra! I thought it quite funny that Decorette is based in Melbourne. If I get brave enough this afternoon I may even go take some pictures of the snow to post here.

Flickr by Colour

This one is courtesy of Idée - a little tool that allows you to look at over 10millions Flickr photos by colour. You can select up to 10 colours and it will display pages thumbnails based on your choice. I went for a green hue, of course, and then added a pink to the mix! Click on any of the thumbnails to go to the original. I have no idea what this would be good for but what a great time waster.

Quilt Project #2 - Take 1

Look what arrived today! I am in fabric heaven. This is the stash that will be used to create my next quilt. I was going to publish a picture of the pattern I plan to follow but then I thought it would be nice to see it evolve here. I went with fabrics by Sandi Henderson from her Farmer's Market collection. I just couldn't go past those apples. A big thank you to Ruth from Sew Love Fabrics etsy store. My list of 29 fabrics was not for the faint hearted and she not only had them all in stock but had them sent off to me in less than 24 hours - what a feat! She'll be happy to know that I miscalulated just a little so I'll have to return for a little more backing fabric. Now let the fun begin.

Sunday Pounce

I couldn't go past this bicycle charm in today's pounce. I have a bike mad husband (not that there's anything wrong with that) and we spent a very small part of this morning watching a criterium that he chose not to take part in. This charm, complete with moving parts, is from Charmed Living etsy store. Sadly I couldn't spot anymore bicycles but the vintage charms are worth browsing through. I used to collect charms (mostly musical instruments) until I ran out of links on my bracelet which is probably just as well for my the sake of my bank balance.

Handmade Market

Canberra will play host to a Handmade Market next weekend at Albert Hall. These cute bags are by Elrock and are but one of the many talented designers and artisans that will be selling their wares. I stumbled upon these via Canberra's Got Style blog - one of my favourites. I can only assume by the location of this photo that Elrock are also Canberra based.

Peonies

I absolutely love peonies but I always associate them with completely impossible to achieve interior design spreads in posh country style magazines (which I never buy by the way). When I came under budget in my produce shopping I just had to buy a bunch of these happy flowers from the woman wearing the "Super Mum" apron. They look just fine in my cluttered kitchen.

Sunday Pounce

It's been a slow pounce day today. I hit the Pounce Again button many times before I stumbled upon this little star. I have a thing for stars so they will always catch my eye. This pretty little one is the work of d'Pholk Designs etsy store. Besides the stars there are many other cool glass pieces. We like to add a few more ornaments to our Christmas tree each year which always seems to include a star.

A New Favourite

I believe I have found my new favourite chocolate. Every Thursday my youngest and I have an outing together to the local produce market. After buying fruit (mostly) we stop by the organic cafe for a latte (me), babychino (him) and banana bread. Over the last few weeks or maybe months I've been sampling their organic chocolate range. I love dark chocolate and can make a block last a whole week and sometimes more - impressive huh? This has been my recent find, Green and Black's Organic Maya Gold - it's got just a little hint of orange and spices that makes it taste amazing. If you want to read the Green and Black's story go to Craig Sams Homepage.

Sunday Pounce

I seem to have an eye for the whimsical at the moment. It's quite unusual for the first listing in a pounce to catch my eye, but here it is. This cute little glass pendant is from Designs by Linda Nee etsy store. With Christmas just around the corner, or so advertisers would have us believe, this might just be the perfect thing for the office Christmas party. Of course for us in Oz the weather is getting warmer and there is not a snowman in sight but we still are inundated with images of the cold, snowy and Northern Christmas.

Graffiti Belly

Three guesses on what this is a picture of... give up? This is my stomach with cryptic notes written by a surgeon. I had surgery last Tuesday (you don't need the gory details) and he wrote on my belly just before I went under. I asked him the next day what it meant and he told me it was so he was completely accurate in the surgery he was about to perform. Given that I was wheeled into the operating theatre wide awake I wouldn't have thought there would be any room for error but then again. He was also amused by my skin - I have icthyosis - he'd never seen it before and apparently I'm unforgettable. The five incisions follow a lovely crescent shape around the graffiti and I am happy to report that all went well even if I'm still feeling a bit sore.
