Sunday Pounce - The final one for the year

These little houses - called a Gingerbread Village are the work of Sam from inklore etsy store. Her designs are very simple, naive and original. This is a tea towel but she also prints on paper. I love the reusable gift bag and her store categories of carry, wear, eat, live. Need I say more.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to All! I have had a text from Canada about all the snow and pictures from Seattle showing the same. The closest we are getting to snow is the sugar variety on the top of our gingerbread house. I wish I could claim credit or this work of art but this was a gift from our friend Sky - chef extraordinaire. By the time this photo was taken both the little girl and Santa had been eaten! As an aside in sunny Canberra it's currently 27° celsius or 82° Fahrenheit.

More Presents

Look what arrived in the post this week! These beautiful earrings are from my gorgeous Californian friend, who many years ago was my room mate in Japan. The earrings are by Simone Walsh who is based in Australia but cleverly has both a US and Australian online store. Somehow my friend bought from the AU store and had it shipped to my address but with her name on the package. This really confused my darling husband who didn't recognise her married name! I was prewarned. How did she know I was a fan? Facebook of course.

Belated Pounce - Cards Cards Cards

Pouncing has taken on a very festive mood of late. I couldn't resist including all three from a single pounce page as they were all cards - and nice too! It's really fun doing a pounce so close to Christmas you can see what's going to be in people's stockings! These creations are from (top) AmeliaBeth etsy store, (middle) aruricards etsy store and (bottom) tomate d'├ępingles etsy store. Just lovely!

Gingerbread People

Every year I make some little sweet treats to give to good friends and the boys' teachers. Every year I wonder why I do this to myself. My kitchen is now, quite literally, being invaded by gingerbread people, red iced heart shaped German Christmas cookies and spekulatius (Austrian I think) stars. Fortunately it's all over for another year as I am finished!! No doubt I will forget this experience and do it all again next year.

Sunday Pounce - Chairs, Rooster and Hen

It was a long time to find the right pounce this morning but this is what I finally landed on. Firstly, the colour and then the chairs - I really have a thing for chairs. I also love the story that went with it .. "This is a picture of Martin the rooster's beloved chair collection. He's the kind of guy who can't drive past a chair on the side of the road without taking it home and fixing it up; well, sometimes fixing it up, a lot of the time they just get added to the ever growing brokeny tree forest in the garage. Miriam the hen finds this all very vexing."
This gorgeous print is from zukzuk etsy store. Her prints are beautiful and I think I could definitely find a place for this one in my house!

Aesop

I subscribe to many newsletters... mostly because I don't like junk mail in my letter box. Most of them I delete (just like junk mail) except those from Aesop. They are makers of lovely lotions, oils and creams that have bulk mail newsletters that are filled with interesting links. In this months edition there's links to everything from Leonard Cohen tickets to a garlic farmer in the Hunter Valley. You can view the real thing online at Aesop - make sure you click the latest link to bring it up. The quotes at the bottom are randomly generated. Does it make me want to buy more hand cream (which I do actually use)?

It's My Birthday!!

It's my birthday today and once again my family, nephews, sister-in-law, colleagues and friends have all managed to make me feel so special. This is my present from my darling husband but I have to confess I actually got it a week ago. Can you tell that I'm techno freak? I've also noticed that there is a pattern emerging to do with Apple products and my birthday - have a look at my birthday blog post from last year. Do you suppose that means I can get the 17" Macbook Pro for my 42nd birthday?
